At the heart of Science of Mind is a living, breathing spirituality—one that grows, evolves, and invites us into ever-deeper awareness. As Ernest Holmes reminds us, “Shorn of dogmatism, freed from superstition, Open at the Top for greater illumination,” our teaching is meant to remain dynamic, responsive, and alive. It is not a fixed set of beliefs, but a living invitation to expand our understanding of Truth.
To be Open at the Top is to release certainty and welcome curiosity. It is a willingness to pause, to question what we think we know, and to ask with sincerity, “Does this belief still serve Truth?” Holmes encourages us not to cling to rigid ideas, but to remain open to new insight, deeper wisdom, and greater love. This openness invites growth—spiritual, personal, and collective.
In 2026, we embrace this theme as both a spiritual practice and a way of being in the world. Being Open at the Top means living in the creative “What if?” It means allowing Spirit to continually reveal itself in new ways, expanding our capacity to love, to understand, and to evolve. It asks us to remain teachable, curious, and courageous as we stretch beyond what is familiar and comfortable.
As a spiritual community, being Open at the Top also calls us into our shared Global Vision: a world that works for everyone. It invites us to recognize our interconnectedness and to live as one human family. This includes honoring diversity, practicing inclusion, and choosing compassion over judgment. It means engaging both personal responsibility and collective care, knowing that our inner transformation ripples outward into the world.
Throughout the year, each monthly theme will be explored through four distinct lenses:
Personal Inner, Personal Outer, Collective Inner, and Collective Outer.
These perspectives allow us to experience each theme from within and without—spiritually, practically, individually, and communally. In months with five Sundays, a fifth perspective—Oneness—will be introduced, offering a panoramic view that weaves together all aspects of the theme and reminds us of our shared wholeness.
To be Open at the Top in 2026 is to release outdated beliefs and fear-based thinking while honoring the wisdom that has brought us here. It is to welcome new insight without losing our grounding, to live from curiosity rather than certainty, and to trust that Love is forever unfolding through us.
As we walk this year together, may we remain open—open to Spirit, open to one another, and open to the ever-unfolding possibility of a world transformed by love.
