The Christmas Tree Project is a local and global initiative dedicated to making the holiday season brighter for families in need. Each year, volunteers help set up and distribute Christmas trees to families who might not otherwise have one, creating moments of joy and connection that last long after the season ends.
The project was founded in November 2010, when the founders gave away a single tree via Craigslist—not knowing the profound need and impact a tree could have. Since then, the Christmas Tree Project has provided thousands of trees, helping to strengthen communities and bring the true spirit of giving to life.
Mission:
To gift fully-decorated Christmas trees to families who cannot afford one, turning a simple tree into a moment of joy, connection, and holiday celebration.
What They Do:
Collect trees, decorations, and donations year-round.
Organize an army of volunteers (“elves”) from churches, schools, scout troops, and companies.
Rally volunteers after Thanksgiving to set up and give away trees—locally in Colorado, nationally, and even internationally.
With your help and support, the Christmas Tree Project brings meaningful holiday experiences to families in our community and around the world.
